Corporate History
- 1888
- In January, Tomikichi Muramatsu, the founder of MARUAI Inc., started selling handmade washi as a wholesaler in Ichikawadaimon-cho.
- 1931
- The private firm was reorganized into Muramatsu Aisaku Shoten LLC, which expanded the market to the Chubu and Kanto regions, including Tokyo.
- 1947
- In May, Muramatsu Aisaku Shoten LLC was reorganized into Muramatsu Aisaku Shoten Corporation.
- 1950
- Additional equipment for paper production (such as offset and letterpress printing machines and a double envelope-making machine) was installed in order to ensure distribution routes from Hokkaido to the Kansai region.
- 1953
- The factories of Muramatsu Aisaku Shoten Corporation were unified to build an integrated paper manufacturing plant at the current location (1850 Ichikawadaimon-cho)
- 1957
- The corporate name was changed to MARUAI Inc..
- 1960
- In May, a new office was established in Tokyo (3 Kikukawa-cho, Sumida-ku, Tokyo). A rotary gravure printing machine was installed to increase production of congratulatory items.
- 1967
- The plant was approved as a Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) designated factory.
- 1968
- In January, Aipoli Corporation, an affiliated company, was established. High-pressure polyethylene production was launched.
- 1973
- Lamination film production was launched.
- 1984
- The corporate identity (CI) was introduced.
- 1988
- MARUAI Inc. celebrated its 100th year in business.
- 1992
- Congratulatory item and rotary envelope factories were completed. The production lines were unified.
- 1993
- A new distribution center, including an automated high-rise warehouse, was completed, becoming the basis of Maruai's new era in logistics.
- 1996
- In November, new company premises were completed. The distribution center and factories (at 2603 Ichikawamisato-cho) unified the production, logistics and management processes.
- 2000
- In August, a new anti-static product factory was completed. In December, the semiconductor-related factories acquired ISO 9002.
- 2001
- In March, the sales office of MARUAI Inc. in Kofu was integrated with Maruai Sanki Co.,Ltd. In June, Aipoli Corporation was integrated with MARUAI Inc..
- 2002
- In November, a new flexible packaging factory and warehouse were completed. In December, the headquarters and factory acquired ISO 14001.
- 2003
- In March, MARUAI Inc. launched a semiconductor business in China. In December, the semiconductor-related factories acquired ISO 9001 (2000 edition).
- 2004
- In December, the Tokyo Office was moved to Asakusabashi, Daito-ku.
- 2005
- In January, the flexible packaging-related factories acquired ISO 9001.
- 2007
- In June, a flexible packaging material factory was completed.
- 2008
- In May, MARUAI Inc. acquired FSC and PEFC forest certification.
- 2009
- In January, MARUAI Inc. launched a semiconductor business in Thailand.
- 2010
- Digital picking systems were introduced.
- 2011
- In March, the Tokyo Office was moved to Shinohashi, Koto-ku.
- 2013
- MARUAI Inc. celebrated its 125th year in business.
